boyfriendz part II

my boyfriend should also wear these really great swimming trunks. so beautiful. really.

lady on burda style made them. soo good.

in other news: only three days left til I leave for college. Its a pretty stressful time. I have so much on my to-do list that is kind of time sensitive and then i have all the people i want to see before i leave. Here are some of my iCal events and to-dos before i go:

8/20
FAM DINNNER AT MARCHE 530
ADRIAN HANGOUTZ
ANON, GOOD NURSE AT REGGIES

8/21
MORNING SHOPPING WITH IAN
DINNER WITH ERIC

8/22
AIRBRUSH TSHIRTS WITH SASHA

and then i leave on saturday! that is a lot of stuff to do considering i also have to pack the other half of my stuff. and complete this to do list:

Compare PC and Mac music libraries and burn the difference.

Memorize gracias ala vida and it had to be you lyrics.

snacks

laundry detergent

kleenex

Start PRINCESS BRIDE tshirt

tell dan wakenfield that his voice is not just morrisey, it also has a touch of stephen malkmus

Finish "OUR BAND COULD BE YOUR LIFE" and give it back to adrian

hamper

umbrella

showershoes

i mean, i guess i can wait to tell dan about his voice. But really. everything else is pretty time sensitive. mainly i have to pack. thats the big deal. and i am such a "stuff" person that i really need to have my things or i will be uncomfortable in my dorm.

oowee i'ma miss this pretty city.

boyfriendz

I've been sending lots of mixed signals to people as far as what kind of boyfriend I want. And by sending mixed signals i mean just making lots of conflicting statements that they dont really care about unless they are Sasha because girls care. And i've said that i want an Indie boyfriend, an Indian boyfriend, and Indie Indian who attend Indiana University (LOL AMIRITE?). I've said i want my boyfriend to be Jon from Jon and Kate + 8 or Bradford Cox or even Barack Obama. But really I think i've boiled all of this information to one thing.

I just want a boyfriend who dresses like he is in the sandlot.

p.s. don't tell, but i am using this picture not off my own bandwith, but off the hipsterrunoff photobucket! CRIME FTW.

college prepzzz

as promised, or maybe i didnt actually post about this, but here are pictures of some of my college shiz. get pumped. they are cool stuffs.

my cool sheets.

my cool blankets that don't match as if to say "i am so cool. i don't care about what people think about my bedding. I don't shop at the dorm section in target all of august." EVEN THOUGH I DO.

My mom argued with me for quite some time about buying these. I have a very special method of towel drying my body after a shower, (but that is for another blog entry.) and these bar towels are more or less perfect. but she was mad. and then she huffed off and just said "fine. get them. whatever you want madeline." typical mom. ugh. but i have them and my body will reap their dry, dry benefits.

this is the product that most college kiddies have told me they are most glad to have brought with them. i am spoiled by my chicago water so i need to make sure my h20 is totally pure. also: i am like flippin mike balderas with my limited edition color. Green brita filter. AND what?

BATH PRODUCTS FTW.

college textbooks FTW. i am so good at bargain hunting for a girl who has never had to pay for textbooks before in her life. public school rulez.

on a less collegiate note, here are some clothes i got at the Gap outlet today. looove it. white people love the gap. duh.

yellow cord mini. 40%off.

shadow stripe tanks @ 2.99 a piece! steal.

Favorite Tee Stretch 40% off

Tank top already reduced to 8.99 was 40% off. STEAL. +my knees at no extra charge.

such an adorable shirt. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. 40% off mofo!

i found this pin on the ground outside the gap outlet. totally cute eh?

we ran out of milk at home so i needed to remind the shoppers with my homemade magnets.

my friend sam only smokes with tools.

Oh Susan

With college looming only 3.5 weeks from now, I recently partook in what has become a rite of passage for almost college students. Buying a computer. After a few conversations with the tech gurus in my life--Tech writers, the guys at the Mozilla tent at p4k, some friends --yes, you Ronak--, and finally the Apple Store employees I made the decision to invest, or rather have my parents invest, in a Macbook Pro. Now i'm not an entirely spoiled brat, i paid for some of this fine piece of machinery as well.  But basically since the moment i let my self control go (i was supposed to be cleaning my room, not fiddling with the computer), i've been glued. Its not that i've never seen a mac, or never used one, but this is MY computer. thrilling. really.  I christened it by doing my very first video chat with some very good company. so excited.

The next day I went to starbucks hoping to mooch on their free wifi and my newfound computer mobility. too bad apparently starbucks sold out and now just offers two options for getting wifi: using the pay-per-hour service from AT&T or TMobile, or getting a starbucks card to pay for your coffee. If you use this card at least once a month, you are given two free hours of wifi every day. I mean, i guess i understand the angle of the card, to make sure that they are only giving away the wifi to people who are actually buying their products--and i do. certainly at least once a month. But its a hassle. I like cash. I don't want to have to fiddle with making sure i have my card when i can easily get cash from anywhere. i've devised a method that would surely work for me. Create an interface to log in when you buy your drink. Enter your user name while you're buying your coffee and then use the same username to log on to their wifi. Really. I should work for starbucks. Caribou coffee? seattles best? just email me. i'll do you a real service. so clever.

ANYWAYS. the other part of the story is that when i was getting back in my car, saddened by the internet shortcomings, i got to thinking that this computer needed a name. I'm not usually one for naming things that aren't my ipod (my ipods have been: gubermby-a 14-year-old's qualification of Gumby and Uber, Black Beauty, and Black Beauty II), but something about this sleek, shiney, powerful machine just intenstly whispers Susan. Weird right? I told myself "No. You have a cousin named Susie and a song from your former band called "Goodbye Susie". You can't possibly name your computer such a conflicted name." I put it out of my head and continued on with my day. But Susan wouldn't leave me alone. So now i've submitted to Susans will and while I would probably be more popular if i named it something like Carlos or Davison, Susan won't leave me alone. Honestly, i'm not going to spend much ime caling it by name or anything, i don'r prance around calling my ipod Black Beauty, but I will know that its Susan. I think she might be a lesbian.

the internet

so today. i found out about the internet. at pitchfork, where i am right now, i found myself at the firefox tent and i asked "what is the internet?" and this man, who has no name tag and lives in the irving park neighborhood, toldme aboutsomething in 1972 at stanford and basically i interrupted him asking about al gore and then we started talking about free t shirts and basically i still don't know what the internet is...

annyeong ha se oh

korea is the bomb diggity. great food, friendly people, cute men, even cuter babies. It is just a nice place to be. When i asked BKFF sarah little what i should get in korea and she said that it didnt really matter what i bought because all of it was just cute and little. so true.

when i asked her later what she wanted me to get her from korea she said "just get me something that reminds you of me." and i said "sarah little. Its korea. EVERYTHING is going to remind me of you." which is true. most things have made me think of her. a lot of it that i wish she and my other super close friends were here to enjoy it all with me. Its wonderful to have these amazing experiences with choir and stuff but it kind of stinks that they are limited to my choir friends...not that i dont love them and stuff, i just wish i had all my homies. nahmsayin?

singing at the dmz was really cool. It was surprisingly much more of a light hearted event than i expected. First of all, everysingle guard we saw, and we saw A LOT, was a mega hottie. all of them. super super hot. and they let me practice my korean on them...and my korean is pretty much saying "saran he" which means i love you. so basically lots of korean army guys know that i love them.... we sang some songs about peace which was cool. And we tied ribbons with wishes for korea onto the fence dividing the two countries while dozens of tv stations filmed and photographers took pictures like we were big celebrities. an experience for sure. time for some dinner....yummmmmmmm.... later cats..
